Indian Harbour Beach Sewer Main Repaired

INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, Fla. – The sewer main break near the intersection of South Patrick Drive and Banana River Drive in Indian Harbour Beach has been repaired, and the cautionary advisory to avoid contact with the water in the Whiting Waterway has been lifted.

Due to Tuesday’s sewer main break, nearby residents were advised to avoid contact with that water. However, utility crews have determined that the storm drainage system into which effluent leaked did not outflow into the Whiting Waterway, but into a Florida Department of Transportation stormwater retention pond. Water samples will be collected and tested from the stormwater retention area.

Inspection of the ruptured pipe indicates that the problem may have been caused by a manufacturing defect.
